For Immediate Release: March 29, 2017
Winter storm STELLA couldn’t keep Heart Zones out of the 2017 SHAPE America National Convention and Expo in Boston, MA March 14-18. After overcoming some travel difficulties, Heart Zones had a very successful conference and the company debuted their new “user interface” featuring a participant interactive, 3-sided “Big Board” tile, that displays a new data point, MVPA % (Moderate to Vigorous Physical Activity).
SHAPE Boston attracted a total of 125 exhibitors and over 3,500 physical educators, health educators, adapted physical educators, dance educators, coaches, college professors and students from around the world in attendance. It was estimated that overall attendance was probably down a 1000 attendees due to the inclement weather.
“Mother nature tried to slow us down, but nothing was going to keep our team down this week,” said Joe Gooden, Vice President of Heart Zones, Inc. “The excitement around our application and the new user interface was incredible.”
2017 marks the third year that Heart Zones, Inc has exhibited at the SHAPE National Convention. Now with over 300 schools across the country using the Heart Zones Move Solution, and an expectation to double during 2017, Heart Zones, Inc finds itself poised to take over as the market leader for group technology, heart rate and activity tracking in physical education.
“I’ve been teaching heart rate in schools for over 30 years, and never have I been this excited!” exclaimed Beth Kirkpatrick, Director of Education and Advocacy for Heart Zones, Inc. That excitement has much to do with Heart Zones’ ability to revolutionize the Pacer Test and the use of MVPA in physical education classrooms around the country.
The launch of the new user interface brings with it a heightened focus on MVPA, and new visual feedback that teachers and students can use to track MVPA percentage in real-time. “Increasing teacher and student awareness around MVPA was a big focus in our new interface,” states Sally Edwards, Heart Zones, Inc Founder and CEO, “we see MVPA as a game-changer for the Heart Zones Move Solution and all of its users.”
During the show, the Heart Zones team had a total of five presentations given at the conference. A full list of the presentations is below.
